Carols on the Causeway for 2020 will be held on Thursday 17th December
Christmas celebrations got off to a wet start in 2019
Marlow Town Council officers were setting up Father Christmas's Grotto and the gazebo in the most appalling conditions. Torrential rain and thunder and lightening to be precise. We thought the evening would be a complete wash out but Marlovians are a tough bunch and came out in hundreds to support the event. Thank you Marlovians!
Our special thanks must go to the Town Band for staying with us by sheltering under the gazebo during the storm, members of Marlow Choral Society, Robyn from Bill's Restaurant who was giving out free hot chocolate, Rotary Club for handing out the free mulled wine which was generously donated by The George and Dragon. Sainsbury's had kindly donated mince pies.
Father Christmas was in his cosy “living room” asking children what they wanted for Christmas and handing them a bag of Christmas chocolates and some sleigh bells provided by Marlow Town Council. Battery candles were also handed out to the crowd which again Marlow Town Council were pleased to provide.
Thankfully conditions eased enough for everyone to enjoy the carol singing, led by Mayor Richard Scott.

Another popular Christmas event for Marlow - 2018
Marlow Town Council’s last event of the year was a triumph, rounding off an excellent series of events over the last twelve months, including Celebrate Marlow and Switch On and Shop. More than 600 Marlovians sang with great gusto at this year’s Carols on the Causeway on Thursday, 13th December.
Children enjoyed free chocolates handed out by Father Christmas in his grotto as their parents sipped mulled wine, generously donated by The George and Dragon. Bill's Restaurant provided free canapés, desserts and hot chocolate, and Sainsbury's donated mince pies. Mayor Chris Funnell led members of the public in the carol-singing, accompanied by Marlow’s Town Band and the Marlow Choral Society.
“Carols on the Causeway is one of our most popular events,” the Mayor said. “It’s great to see so many people out to celebrate Christmas in style. Many thanks to all our sponsors for making it so special.”
