Marlow Town Council seeking Unsung Heroes

Celebrate Marlow

Do you know anyone in Marlow who happily gives up their time to serve the community? Do you think they deserve to be recognised for their contribution?

If so, you have the chance to put them forward as one of Marlow’s ‘Unsung Heroes’ in this year’s campaign by Marlow Town Council to find the town’s most dedicated and selfless individuals or groups.

Last year’s campaign found 25 nominees, from carers to litter-pickers. The Council is hoping to exceed this number in 2019, and is calling on everyone to put forward their favourite. The nominees will be invited to the town’s third ‘Celebrate Marlow’ event this September in recognition of their contribution to the community.

“These Unsung Heroes are the backbone of our community,” Mayor Chris Funnell says. “We know that many people in Marlow give up their time and energy voluntarily for the community, without expecting or receiving acknowledgement or thanks. We want them to be recognised and rewarded, so please help us to find them so we can invite them to our community celebration in September and thank them for their support to the community.”

Celebrate Marlow, organised by Marlow Town Council, is a lunch event at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on 29th September, with guests from all parts of Marlow society: senior citizens, veterans, schools, cadets and volunteers.
