Shanly Foundation launches £150,000 fund to
help local COVID-19 relief effort

Shanly Foundation, the charitable arm of the Shanly Group of property companies, has allocated a dedicated £150,000 fund to help organisations whose activities are directly related to the fight against Covid-19 and those most vulnerable to it. This initiative has been made possible using Shanly Foundation’s existing charitable funds.

The first beneficiary has been announced as Meals from Marlow, an initiative launched by celebrity chef Tom Kerridge, which aims to provide over 500 free meals a day to healthcare workers, frontline community workers and vulnerable groups in Marlow and the surrounding towns during the COVID-19 epidemic. Wycombe Hospital received some of the first donations, with 150 evening meals delivered to its doctors and nurses. The Foundation has donated £25,000 to support this fantastic initiative.

The Shanly Foundation is now calling on local charities, groups and non-for-profit organisations supporting other Covid-19 initiatives to apply. The Foundation is seeking applications from those registered in the areas where the Group operates, which includes Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Hertfordshire, West Sussex and parts of Surrey, Kent and Hampshire.

As the number of cases surpasses one million globally, the money made available by the Shanly Foundation will provide support to local communities and charities that are contributing towards the fight against this pandemic.

In order to be considered, charities should visit https://www.shanlyfoundation.com/ and fill out an application form. Applications will be reviewed and successful applicants will be contacted by a Shanly Foundation representative.

Tamra Booth, Trustee at Shanly Foundation, said: “We have all been moved by the extraordinary efforts of NHS and key workers, but also the kindness of individuals across our communities, who are making a super-human contribution to help their neighbours in need. It feels completely right to create this emergency fund, which we hope will support local charities and groups to help those most affected by the pandemic across the South East. Meals for Marlow is an inspiring example of what can be done quickly by a team of people who want to volunteer their skills and help those in need. We urge all those community groups who have come together to support those most vulnerable to get in touch and apply.”

The Shanly Group is a property company based in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, which owns Shanly Homes and Sorbon Estates, in addition to the Shanly Foundation. Since 1969, the Shanly Group and Shanly Foundation have contributed in excess of £21 million to charitable organisations.
